For your first Mother's Day you can find yourself feeling pressurised to have the most perfect day, which isn't always realistic. So I share with you my top 5 tips to help you enjoy your first Mother's Day without feeling overwhelmed!
1. Get a lie in, you have the perfect excuse, it's Mother's Day. It will certainly set you up for the rest of the day, especially if you had a very unsettled night!
2. It's ok not to have anything big planned, a takeaway meal, a nice movie together is a family can be very enjoyable too.
3. Mother's Day can be very emotional for many reasons, you may have lost your mum during the year, it may have been really hard to conceive, you may have a hard couple of months with your baby. Whatever you year has been up to this point, Mother's Day can be trigged and can bring to the surface all of these emotions. So don't be too hard on yourself, even if you are not Insta perfect, and enjoying every second of Mother's Day. In other words, take it easy on yourself!
4. If the weather holds up, (please let it) get out for a nice family walk to your favourite place, fresh air and exercise always helps blow away the cobwebs of late nights, especially if you don't manage point no.1.
5. If you partner has been amazingly well organised and booked you a spa afternoon or facial or some other lovely treat, go to it and ditch the mum guilt. You will never enjoy it while worrying and that would not have been your partner's intention when making a lovely day for you. It's rare mums get a day off, so take it and enjoy it!
Happy Mother's Day to all you fabulous Mama's
