Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week

Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week

World Breastfeeding Week starts on Thursday 1st August and runs until 7th August and this year's theme is Closing the Gap so we have Breastfeeding Support for All.

Even in Ireland we do not have a unified approach when it comes to breastfeeding. Each maternity hospital is different, every community support is different and not every breastfeeding mum will get the help she needs when she needs it!

That is why the first week of breastfeeding is so crucial if you want to succeed with breastfeeding.
The majority of this time will be spent in a hospital depending on your delivery. So it is unfair if a mum in Galway needs breastfeeding support and she gets in, but a mum in Limerick may not!
How do we change this??
Call it out, every time you see it, CALL IT OUT!!
Mums and Women, we need to start using your voice and demand the help that you need when breastfeeding.
Let's make it easier on breastfeeding mums as a society, if you see a mum feeding in a cafe, ask her if she needs help, a glass of water or for you to place her order.
Honestly that's all we need, just be made feel welcome in public places! If we are ever going to improve breastfeeding rates in Ireland, we need to be seen it every day.
So for World Breastfeeding Week Mama's I am putting the call out to you.
GET OUT THERE, feed in public this week. Take a snap, tag us in it on social media and we will share and celebrate your feeding moments for this special week. 🤱
Celebrate being you 😘😘
